Honda to invest $200 mil. in building 2nd India plant - PTI

NEW DELHI -- Japan's Honda Motor Co. said Thursday it will set up a second plant in India to assemble small cars with an investment of $200 million over a five-year period, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

The plan to build the plant came as Honda is currently expanding its annual production capacity in Greater Noida, northern India, to 100,000 units, PTI said, quoting Honda's Indian-based senior official.

Honda President Takeo Fukui said in July that his company plans to market small cars in India by 2010, while tripling its output capability by that year to more than 150,000 units per year.
